Wherever there is a need in the Omaha metro area and throughout the Western Division (Nebraska, South Dakota, western Iowa), you will find The Salvation Army. Their efforts wouldn’t be possible without the support of our hardworking staff and volunteers. I produced this short film about the Winter Night Watch Program which provides hot meals and winter clothing to those in need on the streets of Omaha.
The Salvation Army Burrows Center for Help and Hope in Omaha provides everything individuals and families need to get back on their feet. From a food pantry to utility assistance, the center is a one-stop shop for material assistance needs in the Omaha metro area.
Through a partnership with the Food Bank for the Heartland, The Salvation Army is able to provide food assistance to people in need in towns and cities throughout the Western Division including this food distribution location in Blair, Nebraska.
Faith-based organizations
Holy Ghost Catholic Church in South Omaha hosted their first-ever Drive-Thru Chicken Dinner Distribution event during the pandemic. A record number of people turned out for the broasted fried chicken dinners but there was plenty to go around!
What does it take to make more than 25,000 pierogi? The folks who make it happen will tell you it takes a lot of time, dedication and teamwork. I spent some time at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in South Omaha where preparations begin every June for their annual polish festival in August. Here's a look at the team of volunteers behind this extraordinary effort!
