The Salvation Army Western Division

The Salvation Army Western Division

For five years, I served as the go-to creative partner for The Salvation Army Western Division, based in Omaha. From national campaigns like Tree of Lights and Red Kettles to impactful local programs like Back to School Backpack Drives, Kids Cruisin’ Kitchen, Winter Night Watch, DJ’s Hero Awards, and Emergency Disaster Services—I provided full-service video production, photography, graphic design, and campaign assets. My work helped bring visibility, heart, and clarity to the Army’s mission of meeting human needs across Nebraska, South Dakota, and western Iowa.

Love Beyond Homelessness:

Winter Night Watch Program 2022

Wherever there is a need in the Omaha metro area and throughout the Western Division (Nebraska, South Dakota, western Iowa), you will find The Salvation Army. Their efforts wouldn’t be possible without the support of our hardworking staff and volunteers. I shot and produced this short film about the Winter Night Watch Program's 2022-2023 Winter Season which provides hot meals and winter clothing to those in need on the streets of Omaha.

Winter Night Watch Program 2019

Wherever there is a need in the Omaha metro area and throughout the Western Division (Nebraska, South Dakota, western Iowa), you will find The Salvation Army. Their efforts wouldn’t be possible without the support of our hardworking staff and volunteers. I shot and produced this short film about the Winter Night Watch Program's 2019-2020 Winter Season which provides hot meals and winter clothing to those in need on the streets of Omaha.

Love Has An Army:

Annual Summer Fan Drive

As temperatures rise in the summer, Westlake Ace Hardware and The Salvation Army join forces to bring heat relief to those in need through their annual Fan Drive.  This campaign aims to provide new box fans to help individuals and families stay cool during the hot summer months. Customers can also support the effort by rounding up their purchases at any Westlake Ace Hardware store.  All funds collected go directly toward purchasing fans for distribution locally, right here in Omaha.

Love Beyond Hunger:

Kids Cruisin' Kitchen Program

Children shouldn't have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. Thanks to The Salvation Army's Kids Cruisin' Kitchen Program, many Omaha children in need don't have to worry. The Salvation Army's mobile canteens (food trucks) travel to various metro locations Monday through Friday during the summer months. I stopped by Bellevue Public Library to capture their staff and volunteers in action!

Love Beyond Hydration:

Fareway Donates Bottled Water to The Salvation Army EDS Team

The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Team is able to quench the thirst of hundreds of metro-area first responders thanks to a generous donation from Fareway Stores. The grocery chain donated 18 pallets of bottled water which amounts to more than 36,000 bottles. I caught up with EDS Manager Maria Moreno and her team as they received this delivery to their EDS headquarters.

Love Beyond Disaster:

Wymore, Nebraska Disaster Relief

The Salvation Army's Beatrice-based disaster relief team helped the town of Wymore, just North of the Kansas border - where severe weather hit the community in June 2022. Teams provided emotional-spiritual care and served hundreds of meals to first responders and storm survivors. In this video, I caught up with Salvation Army Pastor Hope Burris and her team as they provided meals, words of comfort and prayer to Wymore-area residents in need.

Behind The Story:

The History of The Tree of Lights

A look at the storied history of The Salvation Army's Tree of Lights which serves as an iconic symbol of hope for the Omaha community each Christmas season. I shot and produced this short video story about the tree's storied past and how it came to be at its current location at American National Bank near 90th & Dodge.

Love Has An Army:

A Day in the Life at The Burrows Center

The Salvation Army Burrows Center for Help and Hope in Omaha provides everything individuals and families need to get back on their feet. From a food pantry to utility assistance, the center is a one-stop shop for material assistance needs in the Omaha metro area.

The Salvation Army provides food to people in need across the Western Division

Through a partnership with the Food Bank for the Heartland, The Salvation Army is able to provide food assistance to people in need in towns and cities throughout the Western Division including this food distribution location in Blair, Nebraska.

Thanks to the outstanding generosity of the Omaha community, The Salvation Army is able to send metro-area students back to school prepared and ready to learn! This is a look at backpack distribution events in 2019.
